Whether you’re a coffee fan or not, Starbucks holds a special place in Seattleites hearts. We love this fun and unique piece of our cities history. While some may just view Starbucks as a generic chain of coffee shops, the Starbucks Roastery and Reserve store shows us that Starbucks is so much more than that! Located in Capitol Hill, this 15,000 square foot store is a tribute to Starbucks pursuit of coffee innovation. The Roastery gives customers an inside look at Starbucks through an immersive, sensory demonstration of how they source, roast and craft the finest coffee from around the world! This is a unique experience and a fun way to spend an afternoon (or evening)! Make sure you schedule at least an hour or two so you can try out the X Bar, grab a bite to eat, and browse their fun gift section. Whether you love coffee or not, you will gain a unique appreciation for the art of coffee and this amazing company. Our visit here changed everything we thought we knew about Starbucks!
The Starbucks Reserve Roasteries are beautiful stores that express Starbucks’ passion for the quality of their coffee and customer experience. It is an amazing way to learn the ins and outs of the coffee experience, grab a cup of specialty coffee with a friend, or come and be surrounded by the sweet smell of coffee while you get some work done. There really is so much to explore!
Food and Drinks
The Roastery has a unique menu with coffee drinks that you won’t find anywhere else, like the Brew Comparison Flight (the same coffee brewed two different ways), or a Nitro Draft Latte (Starbucks Reserve espresso swirled into cold, creamy nitrogenated whole milk).
Looking for something a little stronger? You’re in luck! The Roastery also carries a unique selection of delicious cocktails at the Mixology bar! With options like the Cold Brew Spiced Rum, the Whisky Cloud, and Starbucks Reserve Milano-Torino, this is the ultimate coffee experience!
The Roastery also carries an incredible food menu that you won’t find at any other Starbucks! Starbucks has partnered with Rocco Princi and offers artisanal pizzas, pastries and bread—this menu really will blow you away! The morning menu may have everything from granola in Greek yogurt to baked eggs in a spicy tomato, and cornetti breakfast sandwiches made with prosciutto cotto and fontina.
The X Bar
The X (Experience) Bar at the Roastery is the ultimate tasting experience! This is where you see the true art of coffee brewing. Here you’ll be offered a flight of coffee brewed four different ways of your choice — we chose siphon, coffee press, pour over, and clover brewed. We were shocked at how different each of these different methods tasted. The best part of the flight? Each tasting was paired with a little bit of Frans chocolate! While this is a fun little treat to enjoy with your coffee, it also really does change the taste—much like a wine pairing. Even if you’re not a coffee lover, this experience will show you all of the possibilities and brewing methods that may help you find a coffee that you love!
As the heart and soul of the Reserve Roastery store, the master coffee roasters work their craft in full view for inquisitive onlookers. If you’re curious about the process, the friendly staff is happy to answer any of your questions!
The Coffee Library
Because the Roastery is such an amazing experience where people from all over the world come to visit, it is usually quite busy! But if you’re looking for a quiet nook to enjoy your specialty drink, the Coffee Library is the spot for you! This enclosed room is a two level library with over 200 books about coffee. With a large dining table to study the books or meet with friends, this area is a great addition to the Roastery!
The Starbucks Reserve Roastery is a unique experience that’s you are sure to enjoy! Whether you’re already a Starbucks fanatic or not, the Starbucks Roastery will give you a unique appreciation for coffee and all that goes into growing, roasting, and brewing the perfect cup of Joe. We highly recommend this experience to visitors and locals alike!
